Morning comes early at the Toronto hotel. We wake up around 3am. We catch the hotel’s airport shuttle at 345 and arrive at terminal 3 at Pearson about 10 minutes later. Being so close to Christmas we anticipate it being busy. Our Westjet flight to Nassau leaves at 7am. We enjoy a Tim Hortons coffee at the gate and are glad that we beat the rush.
The Nassau Airport is quite new and easy to figure out your way around. We have about 7 or so hours until our Bahamas Air flight leaves for Exuma. Heather has planned a great afternoon in Nassau while we wait. We jump in a cab and head straight for the Ardastra Gardens Zoo and Conservation Center.
I was able to enjoy a cold kalik while we walked around and saw all of the animals. Heather and Chase were so excited to see the flamingos. The zoo was much larger than I imagined it would be. Chase was in heaven! Parrots, pigs, snakes, turtles, and of course the bright pink flamingos.
Around 130 we take a short cab ride downtown. We had planned on lunch at Senior Frogs but it was crazy busy. We stroll along the boardwalk and walk through several stores. We are in the area of the cruise ship port so it is very busy with tourists. We spend some time in Effy Jewellery, and even get to enjoy a Bahama Mama and a kalik while we browse the jewellery.
Kalik and a Bahama Mama.
Chase says “Its too busy here, there’s so many people! I like Exuma better.” We agree with Chase, Exuma’s slow pace and empty secluded beaches is much preferred. We cant wait to get there! We return to the Nassau Airport around 315. While we wait for our Bahamas Air flight we have a pizza. It’s too bad it’s dark when the flight leaves as its the most beautiful flight down to Exuma with a view of the islands, Exuma Cays, and that #ExumaBlue water. 💧💧💧
Stepping off the plane is always the best! Warm air, the smell of the ocean, and a wonderful breeze. I grab the rental car from Airport Car Rental while Chase and Heather grab our luggage. We arrive at Canuck Palms within half an hour of our plane landing! Love that we are so close to the airport!
The house is sparkling clean as always, and the landscaping is remarkable. Cynthia and her staff along with our gardener do such great work. We unpack the car, and Heather and I slip down the street to Tracy Bowes Convenience Store. We get the basics…. eggs, cheese, water, juice, chips, bread, milk, pancakes, lime, hotdogs, and butter. I grab some kalik radlers and a bottle of Ricardo’s Coconut Rum for the rum punches!
We are extremely tired after a long day. We enjoy a rum punch and take our nightly “walkabout” outside the house to look at the property. I love the sound of the waves. I end the night reading one of my books “Extreme Ownership, How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win.” Chase is asleep before his head hits the pillow.
Tomorrow we will be heading to our favorite breakfast place, Augusta Bay. Chase plans on bringing his new fishing equipment and casting net. We are so excited to finally be back in the most beautiful place in the world… Exuma!
